With absolutely no credit to a guy named Ted Stevens for his “tubes and trucks” analogy, here is possibly the best explanation I’ve heard or seen of how a web page is requested and retrieved.
Next time a n00b asks you how that whole interwebnet thing works, use their AOL browser to download and install FireFox and play this for them.
